Champneys Tring - UK
Destination Spa
The Founders and Directors of Wheway Lifestyle International, Tanya and Allan Wheway, created ‘Lief’s Nature Cure Resort into a world class health resort which they re-branded Champneys at Tring over a period of two decades (1972 – 1994). During this period they were owners and operators of this destination spa and the Champneys College of Health and Beauty.
Chiva-Som Hua Hin - Thailand
Destination Spa
Wheway Lifestyle were appointed by Khun Boonchu Rojanastien to create the design concept and operating philosophy for Chiva-Som. In addition, they carried out the operational commissioning and assisted with the initial management of the region’s first destination spa. Chiva-Som, which opened in 1995, has been awarded ‘Best Destination Spa in the World’ by Condé Nast Readers multiple times.
Champneys at Le Meridien - London
Urban Hotel Health Club & Spa – UK
The Wheways managed this prestigious health club and spa in Piccadilly. At the time this exclusive club, with its extensive health and wellbeing facilities and palatial public rooms in the heart of London, had the highest priced memberships.
The Sanctuary - Convent Garden, London
Urban Day Spa – UK
One of the world’s largest Day Spas was owned and operated by WLI for 4 years. The Sanctuary included 2 swimming pools, jacuzzi, 2 saunas, steam room, Razul, 32 therapy rooms, a restaurant, a café, Koi Carp Lounge, Gym, Dance Studio, Boutique plus a Meditation and Sensory Suite.
The Sanctuary Zara Spa - Dead Sea, Jordan
Middle Eastern Resort Spa
WLI provided the operational commissioning and initial management for this extensive Dead Sea Spa.
Abama Resort - Tenerife
Canary Islands Resort Spa
WLI created the design brief for this exceptional 2,500 square meter spa with its extensive fitness and leisure facilities overlooking gardens and views of the golf course and Atlantic. WLI also provided the operational commissioning and first year management of this holistic wellbeing Spa.

Tanya is a beacon of light. One of the most positive, joyful, passionate, and purposeful women I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Nobody deserves this recognition more than she does. She has been instrumental not just in shaping the UK’s spa and wellness landscape but global spa communities.

A real highlight for me of the 2023 tpot Shine Your Life Awards was when one of my industry icons Tanya Wheway was awarded Inspirational Contributor to Health & Wellness - Lifetime Achievement Award. Tanya and her late husband were pioneers of the modern health farm movement, promoting a holistic approach to wellbeing, running Champneys in Tring for over 20 years, as well as Covent Garden's Sanctuary Day Spa and through their company Wheway Lifestyle International, creating many award-winning spas around the world. Tanya’s legacy has been a huge inspiration to me.
This award is a testament to Tanya’s remarkable contributions to the spa and wellness industry, and we are immensely proud to be part of her legacy at Wheway Lifestyle International.
