The Campaign for Assisted Dying
Fighting for Compassion
We wholeheartedly advocate for compassionate choices at the end of life. The need for change is deeply personal to our team.
Tanya (seen above, right), who lost her ‘partner-in-all-things’, Allan, to cancer, has worked tirelessly on this issue. Her commitment is strengthened by her long-time friendship with Dame Esther Rantzen, who is bravely living with terminal cancer.
Throughout 2025, Tanya worked alongside the Daily Express and the organisation Dignity in Dying to champion legislation that would grant terminally ill individuals the right to control the timing of their death when suffering becomes unbearable.
Legislative Progress: A Historic Moment
The overwhelming support from the British public propelled this issue forward.
In the House of Commons, the Assisted Dying for the Terminally Ill Bill was tabled. Following more than 100 hours of thoughtful scrutiny and amendments by parliamentarians and legal advisers to ensure the law was safe and workable, a majority of MPs voted on June 20, 2025, for the Bill to progress to the House of Lords.
As momentum continues, Dignity in Dying welcomed the announcement on November 26, 2025, that extra time will be allocated in the New Year for a full and fair debate in the House of Lords. They urged that this crucial time not be wasted by unnecessary obstruction.
A Message from Dame Esther Rantzen
In a powerful appeal for choice and democracy, Dame Esther Rantzen shared her viewpoint:
First of all, I want to say to the people who don’t agree with the Bill, I absolutely understand your viewpoint. I think you should have the choice…
…what I’m saying to you is: don’t try and sabotage democracy. Give us all the choice that you would want yourself. And then we can die in dignity, pain-free, and leave our families and our loved ones with happy memories. That’s all we ask.
Take Action: Support the Right to Choose
If you believe that you and your loved ones should have the right to request an assisted death at a time of your choosing, should you ever face a terminal illness prognosis, now is a critical time to lend your voice.
We urge you to connect with Dignity in Dying today.

Taking the Challenge to the Skies
Making a Difference
On Saturday, July 5, 2025, I marked a milestone birthday in the craziest way possible: a wing walk on a biplane at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire (Hall Farm, Sywell, NN6 0BN). This adventure wasn’t just a personal celebration—it was a mission to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and our local Hospice of St Francis.
Honouring Allan: A Legacy of Adventure
Since my wonderful ‘partner-in-all-things’, Allan, passed away nearly 17 years ago, I’ve made it a personal goal to step out of my comfort zone every couple of years to honour his memory and raise money for truly worthwhile causes.
My past escapades have included:
- A tandem sky-dive (which, surprisingly, I enjoyed once I was out of the plane!).
- Trekking the 500 mile Camino de Santiago solo.
- Embarking on an 80-day circumvention of the globe with my eldest granddaughter, Emily-Anne, including volunteer work and fundraising for an orphanage in Nepal.
- Taking on the role of Education Chairman for YPO Gold London.
- Writing and publishing the book, 'Dance Me to the End of Time'.
The Scariest Challenge Yet!
For someone queasy about heights and nervous even flying as a passenger, this wing walk rates as the scariest fundraiser I’ve undertaken so far.
Strapped to the wing of a biplane, flying fairly close to the ground with its juddering, tipping, and turning, is a whole different experience compared to the soft glide of a parachute descent. It was very windy and gusty and felt like the longest 10+ minutes of my 80-year life!
Support This Mission: Donate Today
Every donation, no matter the amount, holds meaningful value for those facing the biggest challenge of their lives. Please support my efforts to raise needed funds for these two extremely important institutions.
